Beyond Fiction: The Banking Scandal
Before becoming an author, I spent forty years in the banking industry, rising from teller to Vice President at institutions like Wells Fargo, Bank One, and JPMorgan Chase. In 1996, I uncovered a $100 million certificate of deposit fraud scheme, triggering an eight-year legal battle. I ultimately prevailed.
The decades of documentation I preserved became the foundation for my forthcoming memoir, CERTIFIED FRAUD: A Texas Banking Scandal — currently seeking representation.
I began my journey as a novelist at age seventy, discovering a passion for storytelling that resulted in the Eve Morgan series. Whether writing truth or fiction, I am drawn to exploring the hidden mechanics of power and the pursuit of what is right.
Today, I live in Fairfield, Texas, with my husband, Lee. Our lives are enriched by our children, grandchildren, and a great-grandson. My faith in God has been the steady anchor throughout every chapter of my life — through the scandals I uncovered and the stories I now share with the world.
Books by Susan Kirgan
I write under my own name in two very different lanes — psychological thrillers as fiction, and narrative nonfiction drawn from my forty years inside American banking. What connects them is something I learned working in those institutions: justice rarely looks the way we expect it to, and the people who fight for it pay a real price.
CERTIFIED FRAUD: A Texas Banking Scandal
Narrative nonfiction memoir — currently seeking representation
In 1996, I was a Vice President at Wells Fargo in San Antonio when I uncovered a Certificate of Deposit fraud scheme that ultimately involved more than $100 million across forty-seven banks. The bank had placed me as gatekeeper of the very accounts driving the scheme. What followed was not vindication but an eight-year fight — one that took me into the offices of the FBI, the FDIC, and the Assistant U.S. Attorney, and ended in February 2004 when I was finally cleared by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
CERTIFIED FRAUD is built on twenty-nine years of contemporaneous records: OCC correspondence, board resolutions, settlement agreements, and recovered emails. It is the story of one woman's refusal to look away.

The Eve Morgan Trilogy
Eve Morgan is a morally complex vigilante pharmacist who becomes a police officer. Across three novels, she works the line between the law and her own sense of justice — and learns how easily one can be sacrificed for the other.
